Big adventure day! We’d read about Manolates, this cool little old traditional village part of the way around the island, so after mucking about in the morning we jumped on a bus to walk up there.
‘Up there’ being the important part. A really long way up there. Two hours of walking in the sun through the countryside, along a road that soon wound its way up a mountain. Well, near enough to a mountain. The journey was all rather spectacular though. We came so far!
Refreshments at the top of the hill, then walking about the tiny streets at the tiny houses. The village was just as pretty as I’d hoped. And they had a playground!
Downhill was easier, but still. A long way.
Caught the bus back to town and walked around the waterfront as the sun set, then we all headed out for dinner to a place we’d seen last night with live music. The girls got all dressed up, there was really yum cheap pitchers of wine, and it was all really great. Until I decided to get all sun stroked, feel faint, and throw up in a pot plant at the restaurant.
Clare took me home and played a great nurse, forcing me to down a giant bottle of water and sleep, after which she headed out with the girls for drinks. So I missed out on that. Bit of a stink way to spend my last night in Samos really.
