Hong Kong, day 2

Woke with one heck of a headache, thanks to the second bottle of Pinot Kenneth insisted on buying. That messed up last nights over enthusiastic planning a little, but he did manage to get Ada my number so we could go it alone.

Hong Kong, day 2

Ada and I met at Central to sail over to Lamma, which still makes me smile when I say it. Hehe, Lamma. I decided to walk in from mine and catch the Star Ferry over, which is as beautiful as you’d think. And only HK$2.50!

Hong Kong, day 2

Yung Shue Wan, the main town on Lamma, is so quaint and charming. There’s just one main path that leads from the wharf to the most popular beach, lined for a while by housing, food and stalls, then jungle.

Grabbed some amazing stuff on sticks with amazing sauces. It was amazing. Then yum vegetarian goodness at one of Ada’s favorite spots.

Hong Kong, day 2

I rather naively had no idea this Hong Kong existed, and I love it so much. It’s a popular place for Europeans live, then commute in to work. And it’s just so incredibly calming, especially after staying in Mong Kok. It’s where I’d live!

We got to the beach after a long walk over the hill, and I got to wade about in Asian waters for the first time. SO WARM. And hilariously over patrolled. The ‘negate every thing that could possibly go wrong and deter every act that could somehow be construed as unseemly with an abundance of signs and loudspeaker announcements’ approach is everywhere.

Hong Kong, day 2

After another long return walk and a brief last minute sprint for the ferry back to Central, we met up with a largely human Kenneth to head up to The Peak. My desire to complete the full tourist experience was completely outweighed by the 2 hour wait for the cable car. So we caught a taxi. It’s so, so very pretty up there.

The others figured it was time for me to have some local kick ass Chinese, so we headed to Causeway Bay. And it was good.

We all crashed over dinner after little sleep from last night, so it was home to sleep after. Tired.
